From ship to shelf
As part of our family of companies, we purchase mackerel directly from the source: the freezer trawlers of Cornelis Vrolijk. The fish is frozen on board within 12 hours after being caught. This ensures that nutrients are optimally preserved and guarantees a short and transparent supply chain – from the vessel to the fish specialist’s or processor’s counter. Upon arrival, we carefully inspect quality and fat content so that only the best fish is selected for our customers.
Sea-frozen quality
Our mackerel is frozen and packed directly on board immediately after being caught. This ensures optimal freshness and preservation of nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins and minerals. In addition, mackerel has a relatively low CO₂ footprint due to the efficient freezing process on board. Thanks to our close involvement in quality inspections, we know exactly what quality we deliver.
In addition to unprocessed sea-frozen mackerel, we also offer smoked end products in our assortment, such as whole smoked mackerel and cleaned smoked mackerel fillet. These delicious end products come from local smokehouses that of course use our mackerel for this purpose.
